DevOpenConf Code of Conduct
1. Purpose
DevOpenConf is dedicated to providing an inclusive, respectful, and harassment-free experience for all participants, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or technology choices. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations and enforcement procedures to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
2. Expected Behavior
All participants—attendees, speakers, sponsors, organizers, and volunteers—are expected to:
- Show respect and courtesy to others at all times.
- Engage in constructive discussions and avoid demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior.
- Respect differing viewpoints and experiences.
- Obtain permission before sharing personal content, photos, or private conversations.
- Comply with all instructions given by event organizers and venue staff.
3. Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered harassment and will not be tolerated:
- Offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, religion, or technology choices.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
- Disruptive behavior, including sustained interruptions, heckling, or trolling.
- Inappropriate use of nudity, sexual images, or violent imagery in presentations, online discussions, or conference materials.
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.
4. Enforcement
If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, event organizers may take any of the following actions:
- Issue a verbal or written warning.
- Require the participant to cease the offending behavior immediately.
- Expel the participant from the conference without a refund.
- Involve security or law enforcement if necessary.
5. Reporting Violations
If you experience or witness any violations of this Code of Conduct, please report them as soon as possible to a member of the organizing team. Reports can be made:
- In person to an organizer (identified by official badges).
- Via email at report@devopenconf.org.
- Anonymously through our online reporting form (link provided at the event).
All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.
6. Acknowledgment
This Code of Conduct is inspired by and adapted from policies of other open-source communities and conferences, including Contributor Covenant and Geek Feminism.
By participating in DevOpenConf, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and contribute to a positive, inclusive experience for all.
